How Should I Prepare a File for Printing?
To ensure a smooth and error-free printing process, please provide a PRINT READY .PDF file. The recommended minimum resolution is 300 dpi, and files should be converted to CMYK color-space. All fonts must be both outlined and embedded. Be sure to specify the trim area using crop marks, making certain not to place crop marks inside the work area. Your artwork should include a minimum bleed of 1/8″ (0.125″) on all edges, and all critical design elements—such as text—must be positioned at least 1/8″ (0.125″) away from the trim line to ensure they remain safe.
- PDF print ready files:
- Minimum resolution of 300 dpi
- CMYK color-space
- All fonts outlined and embedded
- Specify trim area with crop marks (Do not place crop marks inside the work area)
- Artwork should have 1/8″ (0.125″) bleed from the trim line
- Information content (“Safe Area”) should be 1/8″ (0.125″) away from the trim line
By carefully following these guidelines and reviewing your PDF prior to uploading, you will greatly reduce the potential for errors and help move your job through production more efficiently.
How Much Safe Area Is Required?
Despite using advanced digital cutters and experienced operators, printing is a process with many variables. For this reason, we require a clearance area between the cut and important image areas. Critical design elements—such as contact information and text—must not be too close to the trim line. We recommend a minimum safe area of 1/8″ (0.125″) inside the trim line. If you choose less than this minimum clearance, we cannot be held responsible for items that may be cut off in this area.
When Does My Turnaround Time Begin?
All orders require up to 24 hours for file processing. If you select the “No Proof, Run As-Is” proofing method, your turnaround time begins after we process your files. For other proofing methods, turnaround time starts once you approve your proof. Please note that for orders approved after 4 PM PST, turnaround time will begin the next business day.
Running jobs without a proof can be faster, but it is not recommended, as it eliminates any liability on our part. If an error occurs during processing or if the artwork contains incorrect information, we cannot be held responsible, as the opportunity for proof has been waived.
If there are issues with your files, your job will be placed on hold. Turnaround time will reset and begin again once these issues are resolved.
